Summer in North Carolina means plenty of outdoor fun. When the sun goes down, towns across the Triangle roll out low-cost movies and concerts to entertain all ages.
In Raleigh’s North Hills, we found the sound of the beach on a Thursday evening. At American Tobacco Campus in Durham, musicians pounded the bongos. Most concerts around the area are free and kid-friendly.
The North Carolina Museum of Art offers a series of outdoor movies in a variety of genres with admission just $3. Museum directors try and chose titles with artistic merit, though that doesn’t mean the films aren’t entertaining and fun.
Jasmine Gardiner and Heather Willoughby liked the price and the venue. “There’s something about being in the city, being able to go watch a movie outside on a huge screen,” Gardiner said.
The outdoor movies are shown Friday and Saturday nights, weather permitting, through the end of September.
